| About the BlueRibbon Coalition

The BlueRibbon Coalition is the united voice for over 600,000 recreationists in the grassroots effort to preserve access to public lands and waters. Before the BlueRibbon Coalition was founded in 1987 many multiple-use groups were fragmented and isolated. By combining the strength of these many groups, we now have the numbers to affect land and water access issues across the country.
The Coalition coordinates its efforts by working with many other national organizations like the American Watercraft Association, American Council of Snowmobile Associations, United Four Wheel Drive Association, and American Motorcycle Association just to mention a few.
The BlueRibbon Coalition's Mission statement is "The BlueRibbon Coalition champions responsible use of public lands and waters for the benefit of all recreationists by educating and empowering its members to:
• Secure, protect, and expand shared outdoor recreation access
and use
• Work collaboratively with land managers and other recreationists
• Educate the general public, media, elected officials and
other decision makers on land and water issues
• Promote equitable and responsible land and water management
• Affect the political and administrative process
• Support recreation on, and promote respect for, private
property
• Encourage appropriate enforcement of the law
Some of the BlueRibbon Coalition's most recent success stories in maintaining or regaining access to public lands and waters are: leading the effort to maintain continued snowmobile access to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, coordinating the successful effort to regain Personal Watercraft Access to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (Lake Powell), and the list goes on.
